 Tribal Bellydance
Tribal Fusion Technique

Fusion is a “melting pot” approach to belly dance. There is no one way to dance fusion because its definition changes daily as artists innovate, dig into dances of the past, or gain inspiration from other dance forms. With this in mind, the drop-in class will be a melting pot as well. Each week, students will explore basic and not-so-basic movements using combinations highlighting styles & techniques, from folkloric to contemporary, serpentine to pops and lock, gothic to cheeky, and much more! Intermediate students are invited to bring zills & a sword if they have them (practice swords will be available). Beginners can bring zills if they’d like to learn to play. Appropriate for all levels.

Tribal Fusion Choreography Series

Lacy has become known for her unique fusion choreographies, ranging from the more traditional to the completely unexpected and everything in between. Past choreographies have included vintage Hahbi Ru tribal with zills, a “tribaret” drum solo, Gothic fusion, Jazz fusion, a Steampunk piece with parasols, and Star Wars Saidi complete with lightsabers. New choreographies for 2016/2017 may include a pirate sword piece, fan veils, a Jamila Salimpour style piece with zills, a new Steampunk piece, and a Doctor Who-inspired number, in addition to revisiting old favorites. Completion of a choreography session makes students eligible to perform with Northside Tribe, which performs throughout Atlanta & the Southeast at belly dance shows and events like DragonCon! Best for experienced beginners & intermediates.

CECHETTI Ballet Dance

The Cecchetti method (pronouncedche-ketti) is a ballet technique and rigorous training method devised by the Italian ballet master and pedagogue Enrico Cecchetti (1850–1928). The method seeks to develop the essential skills of dance (e.g., balance, poise, strength, elevation, elasticity, and jumping in students through a meticulously designed training regimen. Its goal for students is to learn to express themselves through dance by studying and internalizing the basic principles, in an effort to become self-reliant rather than imitating the movements executed by their teacher.

Beginner Tap Dance

This is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. Two major variations on tap danceexist: rhythm (jazz) tap and Broadway tap. Broadway tap focuses on dance; it is widely performed in musical theater. Rhythm tap focuses on musicality, and practitioners consider themselves to be a part of the Jazz tradition. If you have never danced or tapped before, this class is perfect for you. No tap shoes required initially.
